Now granted...I've known this particular product line to carry lip balm and some minor makeup in the way of lipstick. However, I did not realize that Burt's Bees carries a diverse line that included skin care that I might actually find useful for myself. I had been looking for something else to try in regards to the heavier breakouts that appear once a month that despite my best efforts, are difficult to tame.
I found out that they had a blemish stick that can be applied a few times throughout the day to help reduce the bumps that appear from my acne/rosacea that I experience. It has a very odd and strong licorice scent that you can tell is blended with an alcohol type base to make this a liquid. This product is applied as a liquid to the affected area of your skin via the roller ball applicator under the cap. It's relatively easy to apply without leaving a mess on your hands this way and makes it a nice on-the-go item for traveling. However...because of that same alcohol in this blend, it does sting, so if you happen to have areas of broken skin exposed during the application it will hurt a bit. It's advised not to apply to broken skin, but at the same time if you're not aware of it then just brace yourself for the potential 'ouch' factor during an application.
Over the past few days I've noticed a great reduction in the harder, under the skin, types of acne/rosacea that appears on my skin. I use this after a regular skin cleanse routine to help these trouble spots. This blemish stick is worth trying if you're looking for a more natural blend of ingredients that's easy to keep on hand and apply. Though if you do have large areas of trouble spots to treat, be aware that you may go through half the blemish stick before the treatments clear up your skin. For me, I know I have difficult skin that's a combination instead of straight dry or oily or otherwise... I have noticed results and also have gone through just about half of the blemish stick to treat the different areas on a regular routine. Considering I had been formerly using a prescription grade antibiotic medication type that had next to no response on my skin-- this is cheaper and showing more results in less time. What I hope to see is that maintenance is minimal after this more recent breakout subsides with this treatment.
This has been more of an isolated product experiment that doesn't use the full Burt's Bees skin care line for a cleanse routine. It may not be for everyone, and is a bit harsh and could dry out the skin in the applied area even with the more natural ingredients. I've seen some local retailers carry this for less than the Burt's Bees site, so if you're on the fence about trying this one...perhaps try it for a lower price. It does seem to work and I may consider the full cleanse kit in the future to try, but for now I was curious as to how this particular blemish stick would work on my skin.
